Our Grant Program

We offer grants to classrooms generally 5th grade and up in order to help them reach their goal.  The State of Maine offers well over 100 locations where students can learn and where they can understand our contributions over the last 500+ years.

Where are some of the many place’s we will give grants towards?

As you can see, we have a lot of history for our students of Maine to learn about.  To give them the identity that will give them memories to pass on for the rest of their lives.  We don’t bring them; we just help them get there.

To apply for a grant please email us MHP@MaineHistoryProject.org with the word “application” in the subject line.  Make sure you let us know what school you are requesting the grant for and an idea of where you might like to visit.

If you, representing a school, or qualified group plan to do an overnight trip to Boston or Sturbridge, Lexington, Concord or other historical place, or a northern school wanting to visit a southern location in Maine,  please email us at MHP@MaineHistoryProject.org and put “Overnight Trip” in the subject line.

  • Maine Maritime Museum - Learn about coastal History, boat building, crafts and many other historical points of interest.

  • Sturbridge Mass Colonial village where the student can experience what it was to live in the 1770’s.

  • Fort Western Augusta, built in 1753 as a supporting fort for Fort Halifax located in Winslow to protect the frontier from sneak Indian and French attacks.  This was also part of the route taken by General Benedict Arnold on his quest to attack Quebec.
